Wheelock's Latin

Aha! What a spectacular community! Well, I suppose a short intro should do, yes? :D :D

My school doesn't offer Latin as well, as I see it doesn't for quite a few people in the community, so I have to take it through an online course. I'm currently in my second year of online Latin, and let me just say, we only learned first and second declensions in the first year. I'm a junior in high school, and realized very recently that I needed to take the SAT II for Latin in June. So, since my courses haven't touched on subjunctive mood (and I'm almost done with Latin II), I guess I'll be studying it on my own! O__O!!! Thank heaven for Wheelock's! :D

Hmmm, perhaps! I didn't think about that, but it could be quite possible! It might be sometime after the test (alas) but it definitely wouldn't hurt (in terms of college applications, my own knowledge, etc). Thanks for the suggestion!

I know...I know...It is that bad... I'm so tired of doing these quite inane assignments, like making up a story set during the time of the Republic or a powerpoint on a Roman province. I'd much rather just get down to the real Latin work!

Dang, I teach my seventh graders more than that in a year.

But...I do not teach them with the magic of Wheelock! You will have the superior education, because Wheelock = love :). (Pick up Groton & May's 38 Latin Stories if you want some more reading practice.) Feel free to ask questions if you need to :).

Ooo! Thanks for the suggestion (and the offer, :D)- I'll be sure to go pick up the book!

Ahh...! I know!! It's horrible!! Oh man, I would have loved to begin studying Latin in middle school!

I would have loved to too...alas, I didn't get the chance until after college. (shhh, don't tell my students) So you can still become plenty good at it :).

i am in 8th grade, have finnished wheelocks, and 38 latin stories along with other origanal cicero texts. i find that through 6 years of latin, the englesh language has even become more clear to me along with my classical logic training. i hope that wheelocks was as much of a joy to you as it was a pain to me...

flvs.net- I think it's the online "classroon" that runs for all/a good deal of Florida? Not quite sure about the exact area that it provides for though.
